Some members have constructed material for their own
use, and with this material help their colleagues.
The philosophy of these early processes does not consist
of learning suddenly, these lost techniques and to put
them to a banal usage. It still exists, for current
photography, the traditional “black and white”,
the replacement of this being progressively taken over
by digital photography.
The processes, often abandoned for commercial reasons,
or because of their inherent difficulties, are justified
by the allure they bring to the photographic image.
Any attempt to describe how to actually do this would
be nonsensical here as it would be necessary to have
several books to completely describe each one of them.
But before starting on this adventure, it is useful
to know to what particular expression one or another
leads, and to judge what personal needs it corresponds.

those that can be practiced with success by these informed
amateurs.
